Princess Raiyah of Jordan engaged to British journalist

Princess Raiyah bint Al Hussein, the youngest daughter of King Hussein of Jordan and Queen Noor and half-sister of the current King Abdullah II of Jordan, is engaged to Mr Faris Ned Donovan. They were engaged on 26 October.

A statement from the Royal Hashemite Court reads, “The Royal Hashemite Court extends its sincere congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Raiyah and to Mr Donovan on this occasion. Princess Raiyah, born in Amman in 1986, is the daughter of His Majesty the late King Hussein bin Talal and Her Majesty Queen Noor. She holds an undergraduate master’s degree in Japanese studies from Edinburgh University in Scotland, a master’s degree in Japanese literature from Columbia University in New York, and is currently a PhD candidate in pre-modern Japanese literature at UCLA.”

Ned Donovan is the son of the writer Tessa Dahl and a grandson of Roald Dahl. He took to Twitter to share the announcement, writing: ‘I am thrilled to share some incredibly happy news with you all.’ His Twitter bio states that he is currently living in New Delhi but that he will be moving to Jordan in December. He has worked for the Mail, Buzzfeed and the Spectator and has also appeared on the BBC.
