Woman arrested over suspected trespass at Buckingham Palace

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of trespass after she was observed climbing the front gates of Buckingham Palace

The woman was arrested on Saturday evening and is believed to be in her 30s. According to the police, she was quickly detained before she gained access to the grounds.

The woman has been arrested on suspicion of trespass under Section 128 of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005, trespass on a designated site. She is currently in custody at a central London police station.

Police have said that the incident is not being treated as terrorist-related.

The Queen was not in residence at Buckingham Palace during the incident. Her Majesty is currently at Balmoral Castle for her annual break.
