
After his two-day hospital stay, the Duke of Edinburgh joined Her Majesty at the British Driving Society Championship for Young Drivers to watch their granddaughter, Lady Louise.
The daughter of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and the Countess of Wessex was taking part in the British Driving Society Annual on Sunday 25 June. Her parents and nine-year-old brother James, Viscount Severn, Â joined The Queen and Prince Philip in cheering Lady Louise on.
Lady Louise is taking after her grandfather in the sport he took to after giving up polo at age 50. Prince Philip’s involvement helped drive the popularity of the sport in Britain. He even set up a committee to create international rules for the game.
Even at 96-years-old, the Duke can still be seen carriage driving around Windsor.
The Queen and Prince Philip arrived at the Guards Polo Club waving to guests. This is the first outing for Prince Philip following his hospitalisation on the eve of the first day of Royal Ascot. The Queen has made every day of Royal Ascot, even playing down on the tradition of the State Opening of Parliment in a blue ensemble rather than the usual robes and crown.
The couple’s eldest son, Prince Charles stepped in for his father at the State Opening on Wednesday 21 June after the Duke was admitted to a private London hospital for an infection. After staying in hospital for a few days the Duke was able to return to Windsor where he has been resting since.
In light of his affliction, Prince Philip was forced to cancel a scheduled engagement at the London Zoo next week to present the Prince Philip Award for Contributions to Zoology.
Full official duties are expected to resume soon before the Duke retires from his public role in the Autumn.Â
Prince Philip to Lady Louise would be great grandfather not grandfather that would be Prince Charles .
Prince Philip is Prince Edward’s father. Prince Edward is Lady Louise’s father. Therefore,Prince Philip is Lady Louise’s grandfather. Prince Charles is her uncle.
