The King and Queen have arrived in Antigua and Barbuda as their Caribbean tour continues, with Their Majesties attending a special church service marking the start of their visit to the island nation.

King Charles and Queen Camilla touched down in Antigua and Barbuda ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which is being held in the country.

Following their arrival, Their Majesties attended an Anglican church service at St John’s Pentecostal House of Restoration, where the themes of unity and partnership took centre stage.

The service formed part of the wider CHOGM programme and brought together religious, political and diplomatic representatives from Antigua and Barbuda and across the Commonwealth.

At the church, Their Majesties were greeted by the Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, Sir Rodney Williams, and his wife, Lady Sandra Williams.

The King and Queen also met The Very Reverend Dwane Cassius, Dean and Parish Priest for the Cathedral and Parish of St John the Divine, and Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who was accompanied by his wife, Maria Browne.

Among the other guests were Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chair of the CHOGM 2026 Task Force, and Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Botchwey.

Janet Cooper OBE, Chair of the Royal Commonwealth Society, was also present, alongside cricketing legend and CHOGM Envoy Sir Viv Richards.

Music played an important part in the occasion, with hymns led by the Antigua and Barbuda Youth Orchestra and its vocal ensemble, Inspire Youth Choir.

The choir has a special connection with the Royal Family, having won the 2016 Commonwealth Choir Competition before performing at Buckingham Palace in 2018.

Their participation showcased the musical talent of young people from Antigua and Barbuda while adding a further Commonwealth dimension to the service.

The arrival marks the latest stage of The King and Queen’s Caribbean tour, which began in the Bahamas before continuing to Antigua and Barbuda.

Their visit coincides with the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, bringing leaders and representatives from across the organisation together to discuss shared priorities and strengthen cooperation between member nations.

The King and Queen are undertaking engagements highlighting the country’s culture, communities and Commonwealth connections as the programme gets underway.
