Thames Valley Police – the force investigating Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor – have released an update following his release from custody.
The former Prince spent 11 hours at Aylsham Police Station after being arrested on Thursday morning. He has been released under investigation.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “Thames Valley Police is able to provide an update in relation to an investigation into the offence of misconduct in public office.
“On Thursday, we arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
“The arrested man has now been released under investigation.
“We can also confirm that our searches in Norfolk have now concluded.”
Although the searches at Sandringham have concluded, police remain at Royal Lodge in Windsor.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
The release under investigation means he is free to return home, but police inquiries are ongoing and no date has been set for further questioning.
The investigation relates to allegations that sensitive information may have been shared with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein during Andrew’s tenure as a UK trade envoy. The Crown Prosecution Service will ultimately decide whether charges should be brought, a process that could take several weeks as inquiries continue.
