King Charles and Prince William make rare joint appearance as they countdown to COP30

King Charles and Prince William made a rare joint public appearance as they joined forces for the environment.

The King and the Prince of Wales were at the Natural History Museum in London for a reception held in honour of COP30, the major environmental meeting which takes place this year in Brazil.

The Monarch and the first in line to the throne arrived together in Charles III’s State Bentley and were greeted by politicians as they made their way into the museum.

The reception, hosted by the government, brought together scientists and environmentalists as well as politicians.

COP30 (or Conference of Parties) is the UN’s annual environmental conference and it takes place in Brazil in November. It will bring together representatives from nearly every country in the world to discuss a multilateral response to the issues around climate change. Those taking part will also look at the progress made around past decisions at previous COP meetings.

The joint appearance came just as Kensington Palace announced that Prince William would be representing The King at the Heads of State Summit at COP30 in Brazil next month.

Prince William will attend the summit in Belem after presenting this year’s Earthshot prizes in Rio de Janeiro.

The heir to the throne is also set to carry out a number of engagements in Brazil linked to the environment.

The appearance at COP30 follows another major environmental event for Prince William earlier in 2025. This summer, he travelled to Monaco where he took part in the Blue Economy and Finance Forum which focused on marine protection.
