Queen Margrethe presented a personal gift to her son and daughter-in-law for their royal chairs at Frederiksborg Palace: embroidered seat covers to reflect their reign.

The artistic queen, long-renowned for her design work, embroidered King Frederik and Queen Mary with seat covers based on their crowned monograms.

King Frederik’s seat cover features his mirrored FF X monogram, which means King Frederik X, with tulips and roses surrounding it.

Queen Mary’s seat cover features a red M with white lilies, red tulips, blue clematis, red roses, small bellis, blue irises, and a red velvet flower surrounding it.

The background of each seat cover is dark blue with turquoise accents. Queen Margrethe embroidered her name onto the front of each seat cover, M-24.

The royal couple will use the chairs when they’re in attendance at events at the Frederiksborg National Historical Museum; otherwise, they will be on display to the public.
