
Buckingham Palace has released new details about the funeral of the Duchess of Kent.
The late royal’s Catholic funeral will take place at Westminster Cathedral on Tuesday the 16th of September at 1400 hours. Until the evening before her funeral, the late Duchess of Kent’s coffin will rest in the private chapel at Kensington Palace.
On 15 September, the Duchess of Kent’s coffin will be taken by hearse to Westminster Cathedral for the Rite of Reception and the Vespers services. That evening, the Duchess of Kent’s coffin will rest in the Lady Chapel.
King Charles and Queen Camilla and members of the Royal Family will attend the Requiem Mass for the Duchess of Kent on 16 September. The Archbishop of Westminster, will preside over the Requiem Mass, while the Dean of Windsor will also participate ahead of the late royal’s coffin being taken to the Royal Burial Grounds at Frogmore for burial.
The guest list will include her family and friends and representatives of her many patronages and military associations she held throughout her life.
Buckingham Palace announced that the musical aspects of the Duchess’s funeral will be announced at a later date. The late royal famously stepped back from royal duties and began teaching music to students.
The Duchess of Kent will be laid to rest in the Royal Burial Grounds at Frogmore on the Windsor Estate.
Buckingham Palace announced that the Duchess of Kent had passed away at the age of 92 in the late evening of 4 September surrounded by family.
