The official monogram of Guillaume of Luxembourg who will become Grand Duke on the abdication of his father, Henri

The next Grand Duke of Luxembourg has revealed the monogram that will be used throughout his reign.

Prince Guillaume will become ruler of the tiny country in October when his father, Grand Duke Henri, abdicates in his favour.

With just three months to go until the big day, the monogram that will be the official symbol of the new Grand Duke. It will be used on a wide range of items including military and police uniforms.

The monogram uses the future ruler’s initial, G.  Two letters are shown in symmetrical formation and topped with a crown.

It’s been created by a Luxembourg graphic designer, Yolande Kaiser, who said ‘’one of the key elements for the Prince was that the letter ‘’G’’ should be immediately recognisable.’

The designer added ‘’the outer edges of the crown and the double G are perfectly aligned, reflecting a concern for geometric harmony. The crown itself has been redesigned for the occasion, faithfully respecting the official crown of the Grand Ducal Court.’’

And Yolande Kaiser revealed that the heir to the throne had had some help when it came to choosing how the symbol of his reign would unfold, noting that it was created according to the ‘’specific wishes of Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie.’’

Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg will take the throne on October 3 2025 when his father, Henri, abdicates.
