Donald Trump calls King Charles ”a beautiful man” as he receives historic State Visit invitation

President Trump was full of praise for King Charles III as he was given a piece of history – a second invitation for a State Visit.

The Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, handed over the invite almost as soon as he entered the White House for what’s been described as the most important meeting between a PM and President for decades.

As soon as they sat down, in front of a large press corps, Sir Keir presented Donald Trump with a letter from The King asking the US President to make a State Visit to the UK.

It’s the first time that an elected politician has ever been asked a second time – President Trump’s first State Visit was in 2019 during his first term in office.

As he held the invitation up for the world to see, Donald Trump said of King Charles ”he’s a beautiful man, a wonderful man…we appreciate that…I’ve known him, gotten to know him very well actually…”

He then handed the letter back to Sir Keir, suggesting ”perhaps you’d like to say what that very important paragraph…” as he pointed to the letter. The Prime Minister took it and read out the invitation at the President’s request.

Sir Keir said ”so this is a letter from His Majesty The King, it’s an invitation for a second State Visit, this is really special, this has never happened before, this is unprecedented…this just symbolises the strength of the relationship between us…”

Donald Trump said it was a ”great, great, honour” before Sir Keir reminded him he hadn’t yet answered. The US President said ”the answer is yes…on behalf of our wonderful First Lady, Melania, and myself, the answer is yes.”

The State Visit will take place at Windsor as Buckingham Palace is currently undergoing renovation.
