The queen who mixed brat green and haute couture to take Paris in style

Queen Mathilde began the State Visit to France on Monday with a strong berry red look inspired by Christian Dior’s 1947 “New Look”. She has continued on with more fashion forward ensembles as a nod to French haute couture while celebrating Belgian designers.

For the State Dinner on Monday evening at the Élysée Palace, Her Majesty continued on with Christian Dior from head to toe. She wore a velvet gown in midnight blue with full-length sleeves and sequin detailing. She also carried a coordinating Dior clutch in blue, as well as pumps. Although no tiaras were worn, she did accessorise with a pair of drop diamond and sapphire earrings.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were also joined by their son, Prince Gabriel, at the State Dinner as he is studying in France.

On Tuesday, the Belgian Queen turned to a beloved Belgian fashion house, Natan.

She wore an ensemble consisting of an A-line midi skirt and a belted coordinating jacket that appeared to channel the colour of the summer, brat green. Mathilde finished the look with a green Natan neoprene wide headband.

Her Majesty also wore Natan on Tuesday evening for a reception celebrating Belgian culture.
