Sir Tim Laurence has given an update on the health of his wife, the Princess Royal, as he paid her a visit on her third day in hospital.
Princess Anne was admitted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol after suffering minor head injuries and concussion in an incident at her home at Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire on Sunday.
Sir Tim said that the Princess was ”recovering well” as she continued to receive care at the hospital.
He added ”we are both profoundly grateful to the medical team and hospital support staff for their expert care and to the emergency services who were all so wonderful at the scene.”
Paramedics were called to Gatcombe Park on Sunday when the Princess was hurt. Medics later said her injuries were consistent with contact from the head or legs of a horse.
The Princess Royal’s husband had arrived at Southmead with a cool bag which he said contained some treats for his wife. He also expressed their gratitude for the well wishes sent to the Princess, noting that ”we are both deeply touched by all the kind messages we have received from so many people near and far.”
He said ”it means a great deal”.
The Princess Royal has cancelled all her engagements this week and will no longer take part in the State Visit of the Emperor and Empress of Japan. A planned visit to Canada this weekend has also been postponed.
