Day Two of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s visit to southern Africa will see them celebrate their son. A charity which benefitted from donations made by members of the public following the birth of Archie Mountbatten-Windsor in May will get a royal visit from his proud mum and dad. It’s a highlight of the second day of the ten day visit – here’s what else to expect.
Beach Life
Harry and Meghan will head to Monwabisi Beach where they will hear all about ‘Waves for Change’, an organisation which trains local surf mentors to offer mental health support to young people.
They will also put the focus on plastic pollution as they see the work of the Commonwealth Litter Programme in action. The project was launched at the 2018 Commonwealth Summit in London and its aim is tackling plastic waste in six Commonwealth countries. Harry and Meghan will meet Dr. Thomas Maes who is leading the initiative.
Archie’s Mum and Dad
The morning of Day Two will also see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visit the Lunchbox Fund which provides thousands of meals every day for people involved in the ‘Waves for Change’ programme. The fund was one of the charities to benefit from donations made to mark the arrival of Archie on May 6th 2019.
A Duke on the Ocean Wave
The fight against environmental crime is also on the agenda for day two. Prince Harry will join the City of Cape Town Marine Unit to see their work in combatting the poaching of abalone. Harry will travel with them by boat to Seal Island in Kalk Bay and he’ll be accompanied by two Royal Marines who have been supporting the work with capacity building and skills training. Harry is Captain General of the Royal Marines.
Heritage and Faith
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will link up again in the afternoon of day two when they will spend time in the Bo Kaap area of Cape Town which was declared a National Heritage Site by the South African government in May 2019. The couple will celebrate Heritage Day there. Harry and Meghan will also visit the oldest mosque in South Africa, the Auwal Mosque, to hear about the importance of interfaith dialogue in the country.
A sparkling end to the day
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend a reception at the British High Commissioner’s Residence in the evening. It will be a chance for Harry and Meghan to meet future young leaders.

The date for your diaries is September 24th 2019 and today the tour is based solely in South Africa. Cape Town is one hour ahead of London.
