The Prince of Wales has meet Britain’s newest sports hero as he visited Wimbledon 2026 for the first time.
Prince William chatted with Arthur Fery, the British wild card whose sparkling run all the way to the semi finals became the talking point of this year’s men’s singles tournament.
The heir to the throne and the new king of Wimbledon shared some jokes as they spoke ahead of the Men’s Singles Final where Fery’s conqueror, Alexander Zverev was facing the defending champion, Jannik Sinner.

The Princess of Wales, patron of the All England Club, led the Wales family as they arrived at the most famous tennis tournament in the world for the final day of competition thi.s year.
William and Kate were joined by Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 11, for the afternoon at Wimbledon where Centre Court was once more baking in hot summer temperatures.
The Princess of Wales kept her cool in a striking olive green dress with a one shouldered cape effect which added a hint of early evening cocktail to the final which started just after 4pm.
Princess Charlotte was in bright blue while George and William were both in suit and tie for the showpiece event.
George, who turns 13 in a few days’ time, hinted that he might well have stayed up late to watch the football as he appeared to stifle one or two yawns at points. His dad was certainly up, taking to social media to congratulate England after they beat Norway 2-1 to reach the semi finals of the World Cup.

William, a self confessed football fan, said that the result was ”never in doubt” although those still debating whether Norway’s second goal shouldn’t have been disallowd might disagree.
The Princess of Wales also chatted to Arthur Fery who she had cheered on in one of his earliest matches at Wimbledon 2026. She was watching as he fought his way through the earlier rounds on the outside courts.
Ahead of the Men’s final, Kate also spoke to some of the ballboys and ballgirls who have been keeping this year’s tournament going. George and Charlotte joined their parents to chat to some of those who have been supporting Wimbledon which this year has welcomed hundreds of thousands of tennis fans.
They later took their seats in the Royal Box where they were joined by other members of the House of Windsor.
Prince Michael of Kent made a rare outing, enjoying an afternoon with his children. Lady Gabriella Kingston, 45, sat next to her father while her brother, Lord Frederick Windsor, 47, remained at her side with his wife, Sophie Winkleman.
As is now traditional, the Princess of Wales presents the trophies at the end of the Men’s and Women’s Singles finals.
