Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark took their two children, Prince Henrik (9) and Princess Athena (7) to take in the new LEGO movie at its Danish premiere on Sunday, 3 February.
The two royal children, who are in the target age for the picture, seemed to thoroughly enjoy the new film, LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part at the Imperial Cinema in Copenhagen. Prince Henrik also showed his enthusiasm for the movie while talking to the media.
Prince Henrik and Princess Athena were gifted with LEGO bags that they were seen carrying out of the theatre at the end of the movie.
Prince Joachim’s two elder children, Prince Nikolai (19) and Prince Felix (16), by his first wife, Countess Alexandra were not in attendance.
This is not the first Lego related event for Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and their family. They have, in the past, attended the opening of Legoland Billund Resort’s new Ninjago World area of the theme park in 2016. At the time, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie took Prince Felix, Prince Henrik, and Princess Athena to take in the newest area of the Danish amusement park.
Just last year, the family returned to Legoland Billund Park to open the 2018 season ahead of its 50th anniversary.
LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is the sequel to the 2014 animated comedy, The LEGO Movie. It was a commercial and financial success for Warner Brothers’ Pictures, raking in 469 million USD worldwide. LEGO has since become a franchise with other Lego related films being released over the past several years including 2017’s The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Ninjago Movie.
