Zara Tindall gives birth to a girl

It has been announced by Buckingham Palace that Zara Tindall has given birth to a girl.

The baby weighs 9lbs 3oz and was born on Monday in Stroud Maternity Unit. Zara’s husband, Mike, was present at the birth.

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Philip and Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.

The new baby is the heaviest royal baby to be born in over 100 years. The previous record holder was Prince Louis of Cambridge who weighed 8lbs and 6oz when he was born in April.

This is the second child for Zara and Mike Tindall who are also parents to four-year-old Mia Tindall.

Mia Grace Tindall was born on 17 January 2014. A few days later, on 23 January, Mike Tindall announced their daughter’s name via Twitter. It would be a safe bet he will do the same this time around.

Zara Tindall is the only daughter of Princess Anne and Capitan Mark Phillips. They decided not to give their children royal titles, so Mia and her new sister also do not have a title.
