Prince Harry’s private secretary, Edward Lane Fox, to leave role

Prince Harry’s private secretary, Edward Lane Fox, is set to leave his role, Kensington Palace has confirmed. Fox has spent five years on the job and will be replaced by The Queen’s outgoing assistant private secretary Samantha Cohen as interim.

Fox was formerly a captain in the Household Cavalry where he first met Harry while on military duties. He also previously worked as a senior associate at the financial communications firm, RLM Finsbury. Additionally, both he and Harry were involved with the Burnaby Blue Foundation; this organisation has worked with the Lesotho based charity, Sentabale, which Prince Harry co-founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006.

A spokesperson for Prince Harry said on his behalf, “His Royal Highness is hugely grateful to Ed for his hard work during a period that has seen the launch and growth of the Invictus Games, countless tours around the world, and the detailed planning for next month’s wedding.

“Ed has led the creation of Prince Harry’s private office and the development of His Royal Highness’s work across a range of issues since leaving the Armed Forces.

“He has worked tirelessly, providing valued advice to Prince Harry and leadership of a growing team.”

A source who spoke to US Weekly called Fox a “godsend” to the soon to be married royal.

Edward Lane Fox has been credited with helping to improve Harry’s reputation and image after his trip to Las Vegas where naked pictures of the Prince were sold to the press. Fox’s tenure began shortly after Harry’s return to the United Kingdom. He also reportedly was very beneficial in helping the former American actress Meghan Markle, who Harry will wed on 19 May at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, settle into royal life.

He is expected to be in attendance at the Royal Wedding next month.
