Prince Harry is set to break with royal tradition today as it has been announced that he will wear a wedding ring. Neither his brother, The Duke of Cambridge, nor his grandfather, The Duke of Edinburgh, wear wedding rings. However, the Prince of Wales has worn a wedding ring for both of his marriages, though it is on his little finger.
Jeweller Igal Dahan told Esquire magazine: “If Prince Harry decides to wear a ring, the reason will be because of preference, not tradition.
“If Prince Harry were to wear a wedding ring, it wouldn’t surprise me. The significance of him wearing one would be beyond a statement. It would send a message and prove once again that this prince doesn’t follow the rules.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to marry today in St George’s Chapel in Windsor. Two days ago, it was announced that Meghan’s father Thomas would not be able to attend the wedding. “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health. I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.” She will be walked down the Quire by her future father-in-law, The Prince of Wales.
For the bridesmaids, Harry and Meghan have picked Princess Charlotte, 3, Prince Harry’s goddaughters, Florence van Cutsem, 3, and Zalie Warren, 2 and Meghan’s goddaughters Remi Litt, 6 and Rylan Litt, 7.
They also chose Meghan’s close friend Jessica and Ben Mulroney’s (son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney) children, Ivy, 4 and their twin sons, Brian and John, 7, as page boys.
Other page boys include Prince George, 4, and Jasper Dyer, 6.
