Disney celebrates royal baby with Winnie-the-Pooh

Disney is celebrating royal baby Archie Harrison with Winnie-the-Pooh. A short animation watercolour has been created to celebrate the new member of the Sussex family as a gift to new parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Disney has created a beautiful Winnie-the-Pooh short-animation in watercolour as a gift to new parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to celebrate the birth of their new son. The story sees the world’s favourite bear make his way down The Long Walk to deliver a special hum to the new royal baby, as his name is officially announced to be Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. © Disney

Disney’s Senior Principal Artist, Kim Raymond, hand drew the images with Disney explaining that “the heart-warming story is a touching gift from Disney to the proud new parents, depicting the world’s favourite bear delivering a special hum to their new son.”

They further added, “The 25-second creation sees Pooh setting off from One Hundred Acre Wood and strolling down the Long Walk to Windsor Castle. In the final frame, Archie’s recently announced name can be seen on his cot as Pooh sits beside The Duke and Duchess of Sussex in their Windsor home.”

This isn’t the first interaction between Pooh and the British Royal Family. Both Pooh and The Queen celebrated their 90th birthdays in 2016, and to celebrate, ‘Winne-the-Pooh Meets the Queen’ was released which saw The Queen and popular teddy bear meeting at Windsor Castle.

The Duchess of Sussex also called the Winnie-the-Pooh book one of her favourites on her now closed blog, The Tig. Her husband, the Duke of Sussex, showed his fondness for the bear by buying a rare first edition of the A. A. Milne book for his new nephew, Prince Louis, last year as a christening gift.

Winnie-the-Pooh was created by English author A. A. Milne in 1926. In 1961, it was licensed by Disney with movies, tv shows, theme park rides, and souvenirs soon taking off.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on 6 May at 5.26 am. He is seventh in line to the throne.
