The Sussexes

The Queen is to make Harry & Meghan the Duke and Duchess of Sussex

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to become the Duke and Duchess of Sussex upon their marriage later today.

The Dukedom of Sussex is said to have been reserved for Prince Harry upon marriage, and now The Queen has formally announced her intention for the sixth-in-line to the throne to hold this title.

Harry’s full title will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel.

This means Meghan will be styled as ‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex’, and not Princess Meghan.

That being said, she will still be formally be styled as ‘Princess Henry of Wales’.

It was always suspected that Harry would become the Duke of Sussex, but other Dukedoms that were tipped to be a possibility included the Duke and Duchess of Clarence and the Duke and Duchess of Hampshire.
