Prince William and Prince Harry have an exceptionally close bond as brothers and best friends. Growing up royal isn’t easy, especially when one is the future King of England, but with a mischievous younger brother by his side William is sure to have is work cut out for him.
Their bond was no doubt instilled in them by their mother the late Diana, Princess of Wales who wanted her two boys to have as close to a normal life as possible. Their bond was strengthened with the sudden passing of their beloved mother when they were just 15 and 12 years old. The boys have done an amazing job ensuring their mothers legacy lives on with the creation of The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, created within days of their mother’s death which the boys took over later when they were older. “There is definitely a tradition of estrangement between heirs and spares – sublimated envy, perhaps the cause – and the closeness between William and Harry is very unusual.” Says royal commentator Robert Lacey.
Charity work is a big passion in both boys lives individually and together as they have joined each other in a few joint patronages including co-founding and lending their names to The Royal Foundation along with The Duchess of Cambridge. The foundation focuses on armed forces, young people, and conservation as well as becoming the legal owner of The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund in March 2013 after the fund closed as an operational organization on December 31, 2012. Along with The Royal Foundation the brothers share a patronage of The Henry Van Straubenzee Memorial Fund as well as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joining Prince Harry on stage for the opening and closing ceremonies at The Invictus Games.
Prince William and Harry definitely share a relationship unlike any other between royal siblings around the world. Together they have overcome triumph and tragedy and have only ever strengthened their bond. The royal brothers enjoy many activities together including doing charity work, a lot of private family time, and riding their motorcycles around London when they were younger, which was one of few things they could together in complete privacy without being recognized.
