Prince & Princess of Wales

New photos of Princess Charlotte released by Kensington Palace

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released two new images of their daughter, Princess Charlotte.

The photos, taken earlier this month by Kate herself, show Charlotte smiling as she plays with a soft toy puppy and another whilst looking into the distance. Both photos were taken at The Cambridges’ Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.

Releasing the photos earlier today, Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to be able to share two new photographs of Princess Charlotte.”

“The Duke and Duchess continue to receive warm messages about Princess Charlotte from all around the world and they hope that everyone enjoys these lovely photos as much as they do.”

William and Kate were last pictured with Charlotte and her older brother Prince George in July, when the family attended their daughter’s Christening at St Mary Magdalene Church on The Queen’s Sandringham Estate.

Princess Charlotte was last pictured in public at her Christening on 5 July.

Princess Charlotte, now 6 months old, appears to have inherited her father’s blue eyes although her mother’s facial expressions are also clearly recognisable. She was born on 2 May 2015 in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. Both her and The Duchess left the hospital on the same day to huge media interest.

The royals are intensely aware of their privacy and have complained recently about covert paparazzi and photographers from overseas publications, where unofficial photographs of the couple and their young children are increasingly sought after.

In August, Kensington Palace released a letter on behalf of the Duke and Duchess in which they raised their concerns “about their ability to provide a childhood for Prince George and Princess Charlotte that is free from harassment and surveillance.”

Since Prince George was born in 2013, he has been seen on a handful of occasions including his parents’ tour of Australia and New Zealand and made his first appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Trooping of the Colour in June this year. He wore an outfit very similar to Prince William’s when he made his debut balcony appearance with father Charles 31 years ago.

The young Prince and Princess are not expected to travel with their parents to India early next year, although further details and confirmations from Kensington Palace are set to be announced in the New Year.
