Duke of Cambridge reveals that his wife, The Duchess of Cambridge, loves adult colouring books

During an Investiture ceremony held today at Buckingham Palace, The Duke of Cambridge revealed that his wife, The Duchess of Cambridge, enjoys colouring in adult colouring books. She likes the popular book, ‘Secret Garden’ which has sold over 1 million copies.

We know that The Duchess is an avid outdoorswoman, loving hill walking and sports like hockey. She also enjoys cooking healthy dinners for her family, but the latest revelation is no surprise being as the hobby has really taken off around the world.

The book’s illustrator, Johanna Basford, was at Buckingham Palace to receive an OBE for her contributions and services to art and entrepreneurship.

Adult colouring books have become hugely popular as a way to relax and promote mindfulness. Mis Bashford, who hails from Ellon Scotland told The Mirror of this craze: “I think we’ve just seen the colouring community flourish.

“Prince William actually said that his wife likes to colour in the Secret Garden, which was really sweet. I think people are just craving a digital detox.

“I’m working on a new book just now and it’s set in a castle, funnily enough, so I will definitely try to remember everything.”

Ms Basford didn’t mention when this project would be completed or when avid colouring fans could see it hit book shelves.

She mentioned how her trip to the palace has provided some added inspiration for her new project, saying: “I’m sure little snippets of today will feature in the book.

“I love all the really ornate picture frames and all the beautiful sculptures, and the candelabras are just stunning.”

Ms Basford’s husband, James Watt, joined her at Buckingham Palace. He received his own honours and OBE for his services to the brewing industry. He is co-owner of BrewDog.
