The Queen’s third cousin-once removed married his partner earlier this month in Devon.
Lord Ivar Mountbatten came out as gay two years ago after previously being married to a woman and having three children with her.
Lord Ivor married his partner, James Coyle, with ex-wife, Lady Penny Mountbatten giving him away in a private ceremony.
As reported in Huffington post Lord Ivar Mountbatten said “I loved Penny when we were married, as I still do very much.
“I never thought this would happen. It’s brilliant, but I never thought I’d marry a man.”
Ivar Alexander Michael Mountbatten is a great-great-great grandchild of Queen Victoria and a direct descendant of Catherine the Great of Russia.
In addition to Her Majesty, he is also cousin to Prince Philip and godfather to Lady Louise Windsor.
He was married to Penelope Anne Vere Thompson and they had three daughters together. They divorced in 2011 after 16 years of marriage.
No members of The Royal Family were present at the wedding ceremony, although the Earl and Countess of Wessex were said to have a diary clash according to the Daily Mail.
