Queen Rania visits renovated King Abdullah II Orphanage

Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan visited the completed renovations at the King Abdullah II Orphanage in Al-Salt on Wednesday, 12 September.

The Office of Her Majesty and Nashmi Center for Youth Empowerment collaborated together to assist in renovation to “transform the orphanage into a model site for orphan care,” according to Her Majesty’s Press Office.

The Queen was able to review the recent renovations in their facilities and meet the administrators and children at the orphanage. These changes to the facilities included upgrading the bedrooms, common areas, washrooms, kitchen, and outdoor spaces. New flooring was also installed, as well as a number of essential accessories and fixtures.

Upon arrival, the Queen was welcomed by Orphanage President, Sabri Al Masoud, and Director, Rima Kloub and was given an update on the renovations before speaking with the Founder of Nashmi Center, Ala’ Al Bashiti, who told Her Majesty of the positive experiences from the volunteers from the Nashmi Center. A tour of the orphanage was also on the agenda.

On Instagram, Queen Rania, who is the wife of Jordan’s King Abdullah II, posted an image of her with two smiling young girls saying, “Your smiles are priceless! From my visit today to the King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein Orphanage after its most recent renovation.”

The King Abdullah II Orphanage was founded by the Jordan Red Crescent Society in 1965. It currently hosts 12 orphan girls who are between the ages of four and 15. It is located in Al-Salt which is in west-central Jordan.
