Prince Gabriel of Sweden, the younger son of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, celebrates his first birthday today.
The Swedish Royal Court released new images in celebration of the Prince’s first birthday today which will be celebrated privately with his family. The two pictures were taken by Erika Gerdemark.

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia posted one of the images on their official Instagram saying, “Congratulations, Gabriel❤ Love you! For a year, you have spread joy to your big brother and us!”
Gabriel Carl Walther was born on 31 August 2017 in Danderyd Hospital in Danderyd, Sweden. His name and duchy were announced by his grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf in a cabinet meeting on 4 September. The young royal’s full title is His Royal Highness Prince Gabriel Carl Walther of Sweden, Duke of Dalarna. A Te Deum service was held later that day to celebrate his birth.

Prince Gabriel was christened into the Church of Sweden on 1 December 2017 in the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace. His godparents are his paternal aunt, Princess Madeleine; maternal aunt, Sara Hellqvist; paternal cousin, Thomas de Toledo Sommerlath; friend of his father, Oscar Kylberg; and friend of his mother, Carolina Pihl.
He is sixth in line to the Swedish throne behind his paternal aunt, Crown Princess Victoria; her two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar; his father, Prince Carl Philip; and his older brother, Prince Alexander.
Gabriel has no shortage of young children to play with as his older brother and cousins are all six-years-old or younger. He was born as the sixth grandchild (of seven) and the fourth grandson of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden.
The Prince was most recently seen in public at his cousin, Princess Adrienne’s christening in June in the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace. A family photo of Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Prince Alexander, and Prince Gabriel was also released earlier this month after being taken in July at Solliden Palace.
