When he was christened in the Roman Catholic Church on 28 May 1992, his godparents were announced as his eldest brother, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Princess Astrid of Belgium.

His Royal Highness attended nursery school in Angelsberg, Luxembourg; afterwards, for his primary education, he was enrolled at St George’s International School. He then attended Sunningdale School and Ampleforth College for a couple of years in the United Kingdom as an exchange student. Prince Sébastien then graduated with a Baccalaureate from the International School of Luxembourg. He chose to pursue his university education in the United States at the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. While there, he was a member of the school’s rugby team. He graduated in December 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Communication.

He is currently at Sandhurst Academy in the United Kingdom undergoing training alongside Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein. He began the 44-week training course in September 2016. His grandfather, Grand Duke Jean; father, Grand Duke Henri; and his eldest brother, Prince Guillaume attended the academy in the past. His training will come to a conclusion on 11 August with the Sovereign’s Parade.

As an avid sportsman, he is the patron of Luxembourg Federation of Swimming and Lifesaving.

In his spare time, the Prince is known to partake in climbing, skiing, swimming and rugby. In the past, he was even selected as a member of the Luxembourg national rugby team. He also enjoys art, travelling and learning about different cultures. He speaks French, German, Luxembourgish and English fluently and is known to understand some Spanish.
