The Duke of York has had an official engagement cancelled by palace aides amidst the furore of his Newsnight interview over the weekend.
According to the Daily Mail, Prince Andrew has been “banished from royal duties and sent to sit behind a desk at his mother’s house.”
On Tuesday, the Duke of York was scheduled to have visited flood-hit communities in the north of England.
However, aides decided to send him to Buckingham Palace instead as the Newsnight crisis only further intensifies.
Speaking to the Mail, sources denied reports that The Queen summoned Andrew to Buckingham Palace from Windsor, and said it was ‘business as usual.’
They also criticised the media coverage of Andrew’s interview, saying the public ‘traducing’ was turning into a ‘personality-motivated witch-hunt’.
