The Countess of Wessex cancels engagements due to coronavirus

The Countess of Wessex has cancelled her upcoming trip to Jersey due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Her Royal Highness had been due to visit the island next Tuesday to support and learn about local charities.

Sophie is Royal Patron of the NSPCC and was supposed to visit their base on Jersey to see how they are supporting children on the island.

An NSPCC spokesperson said: “A visit by HRH The Countess of Wessex to the NSPCC’s Jersey centre has understandably been postponed following the ongoing situation with COVID-19.

“We are optimistic that the visit will be re-scheduled and we continue to look forward to sharing with our Royal Patron the incredible and life-changing work going on in Jersey by our staff members, volunteers and supporters, to help local children and families.”
