A look at the likely choices for Prince Harry’s best man

In the spirit of all things to do with the Royal Wedding, chilisauce.com, an event agency, sent out a survey on people’s thoughts of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day.

People from across the United Kingdom were polled, 2062 in total, all over the age of 18.

The respondents were asked was who they think Prince Harry’s best man will be.

Prince William, who Harry acted as best man for at his wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011, didn’t come out on top. The most likely bet was Guy Pelly at 29%, Prince William coming in second at 25%. The remaining of the top five included Tom Inskip with 17% of the vote, Jack Mann at 11% and Arthur Landon at 7%.

Top runner, Guy Pelly has been friends with Princes William and Harry for most of their lives, having grown up nearby in Gloucester. Currently, the co-owner of the London hotspot, Tonteria, Pelly also owns Whiskey Mist and a royal favourite, Mahiki. Pelly held Prince William’s stag-do in 2011 before he wed the now Duchess of Cambridge.

Tom Inskip attended Eton with Prince Harry. It was his wedding to Lara Hughes-Young in Jamicia that Harry was an usher at earlier this year. Meghan Markle also made an appearance the wedding and pictures of the couple dining on the beach went viral.

Jack Mann is “the son of the mercenary Simon Mann, the architect of the failed “Wonga” coup, who was jailed for his involvement in a plan to overthrow the president of Equatorial Guinea” according to The Telegraph. They also attended Sandhurst together. Mann served with the Household Cavalry’s Blues and Royals regiment.

Last week, the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was announced. The nuptials will be held at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor in May 2018. A final date has yet to be confirmed.
