The couple asked that their first joint engagement be on the
island, according to a palace spokesman. The Duke and Duchess
rented a home on the island while William was stationed at the
nearby RAF Valley, before they moved to Kensington Palace last
summer.
Arriving in a black Land Rover, huge cheers roared as the couple
got out to attend the official ceremony, which saw a new RNLI
lifeboat dedicated.
Showing confidence in her new role, Kate smiled as she cracked open
the bottle of champagne as the excited crowd applauded her.
William, who looked on proudly joked: “I do the talking, she does
the fun bit”.
The then Miss Middleton was then presented with a bunch of flowers
by a young girl, before the future Duke and Duchess met guests and
members of the lifeboat crew.
Members of the crowd had been arriving since the early hours to
catch a glimpse of the nation’s new royal couple.
The engagement attracted huge media attention from across the
globe, as after the engagement announcement it was the first time
Kate had attended an official event in her capacity as a future
royal.
A spokesman for the couple explained the couple felt the engagement
was a perfect fit to begin their royal life together.
“They asked for their first joint engagement to be in
Anglesey. Then the lifeboat station approached us about the
new lifeboat and, given that Prince William is a search and rescue
pilot and at some point is very likely to be working with crew, it
seemed appropriate.”

As I recall, Miss Middleton POURED a bottle of champagne over the lifeboat. It’s made of some soft fabric and to “crack” the bottle on the boat might have punctured it and caused it to sink!
