The Queen cancels Privy Council meeting on doctor’s advice

The Queen has cancelled a planned meeting of the Privy Council on medical advice.

Her Majesty had been due to hold a meeting on the evening of September 7th 2022 but, just before it was set to start, Buckingham Palace confirmed doctors had advised rest.

Royal officials said ”After a full day yesterday, Her Majesty has this afternoon accepted doctors’ advice to rest. This means that the Privy Council meeting that had been due to take place this evening will be rearranged.”

The meeting was due to take place virtually.

The Queen had spent the previous day overseeing the appointment of a new Prime Minister. Her Majesty had welcomed Boris Johnson to Balmoral to formally accept his resignation before meeting his successor, Liz Truss, and asking her to form a government.

The Queen looked well at the time and seemed in good form as she smiled at the politician who had just become her fifteenth Prime Minister.
