The King meets Indian Prime Minister Modi at Sandringham

The King Modi

The King has hosted the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in an audience at Sandringham.

The meeting, which took place in the monarch’s Norfolk residence on Thursday, saw King Charles and Mr Modi hold talks, helping strengthen bilateral ties between the tel nations.

The King’s invitation to Mr Modi came just hours after the two counties signed the India-UK Free Trade Agreement – a major post Brexit trading arrangement.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister presented the King with a tree sapling.

The tree, which will be planted later this year, was part of the Indian Prime Minister’s environmental campaign, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”.

The campaign encourages people to plant a tree in honour of their mothers.

A post on The Royal Family’s Twitter account said: “This afternoon, The King received the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi, at Sandringham House.

“During their time together, His Majesty was given a tree to be planted this Autumn, inspired by the environmental initiative launched by the Prime Minister, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”.

Earlier in the day, The King hosted the President of Moldova at Sandringham for similar bilateral talks.
