The latest Invictus games in Toronto were both a personal and professional success for Prince Harry. During the Opening ceremonies last Sunday, the royal and his American actress and humanitarian girlfriend, Meghan Markle, showed up as a couple, although seated apart. The two have been dating for over a year, but last weekend’s appearance followed by others at the games showed just how close the two have become.
Olympic legend, Usain Bolt says in the five years he’s known the Prince, he’s never seen his pal Harry so happy. The superstar athlete also said he’d love for his friend to propose to Meghan in his native Jamaica.
“He has always been a happy guy, but I’ve not seen him so happy since he’s been with Meghan. We were at a wedding earlier this year. You have never seen a man with such a smile on his face — and it wasn’t my jokes that put it there.”
Laughing, the athlete added: “Come on, there is no more beautiful place in the world to propose than Jamaica. I am going to suggest it to him.”
Bolt admitted he wouldn’t mind planning Harry’s stag do, or bachelor party: “He knows I want to plan it. I can make things happen in Jamaica. I can get the most beautiful beach closed off for him. I’m going to text him and plant that little seed.”
Also during the Games, Harry and former U.S. President Obama had a heart-to-heart about their significant others as they watched wheelchair basketball from the stands on Friday. Obama asked how Meghan was doing and Harry reciprocated, enquiring about former First Lady Michelle, who has also become a good friend of the Prince.
Student Hayley Stover, 18, sat next to the power duo and recalled: “I did hear Obama ask about Meghan and Harry just let him know she had been to watch the tennis with him.
Harry was really smiling when he said it. He looked really happy, it was cute. Obama just asked about her filming and how it was going, and then Harry asked about Michelle.”
