The documentary ‘Our Queen at 90’ aired last night in the UK which commemorated the Queen’s upcoming 90th birthday celebrations.

In the documentary, senior royals have sat down with ITV to pay tribute to The Queen and sharing memories about her long reign.

Members of the royal family who will feature in the two hour programme include Prince Charles & the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, the Countess of Wessex, and Peter Phillips.

Notably, this is was the first solo television interview ever given by the Duchess of Cambridge. In the programme, she talks about the relationship between the Queen and Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The Duchess says her most memorable engagement was the day she spent in Leicester with the Queen in 2012, during her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.“She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay and that just shows her love for her family,” says the Duchess, who also revealed that Prince George refers to his great-grandmother as simply Gan-Gan.

“She was very supportive. The fact she took the time to make sure that I was happy and looked after for that particular occasion, which probably in everything that she’s doing is a very small element, it shows just how caring she is really.”

Kate also pays tribute to how the Monarch never forces her views upon anyone: “She’s been very generous in not being forceful at all in any of her views.”

“I feel she’s been there, a gentle guidance really for me.”

Other royals offer insight into the Queen as a mother, grandmother, and monarch.

Prince William talks about the public reaction to the Queen, saying, “I’ve seen people literally faint in front of her. It’s quite a startling moment as to what to do when you faint in front of the Queen.”

Prince Charles jokes that “I said to my mother the other day, do you realise that when you reach 90 I shall have known you for 68 years, she had to laugh a little bit.”

Prince Harry hailed his grandmothers’ sense of duty as ‘quite remarkable’.
