The Queen

The Queen reportedly loves to dance along to ABBA’s Dancing Queen

The Queen is reportedly a fan of ABBA’s Dancing Queen and loves to dance along to the music.

BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans told a friend that Her Majesty made the revelation during a dinner at Windsor Castle much to the amusement of guests.

She apparently said: “I always try to dance when this song comes on, because I am the Queen, and I like to dance.”

Guests were said to have been surprised by the news, reacting: “My goodness me, there is the Dancing Queen.”

The 91-year-old Monarch is known to be a fan of music, and recently revealed she would love to sing.

This revelation comes from 23-year-old Laura Wright, who will be performing the National Anthem this weekend at the England versus Wales rugby match at Twickenham Stadium.

According to Ms Wright, The Queen told her that she would love to be able to sing and has even personally been told by Gary Barlow himself that it is “just a matter of learning”.

The 23-year-old soprano said that Her Majesty had a lovely singing voice when she heard her sing an extract of Gary Barlow’s song ‘Sing’, which was the song created by members of The Commonwealth for commemorating The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

“When I was talking to her, she sang a little bit of a track from Gary’s Sing EP”, Ms Wright revealed to the Daily Mail. “It sounded like she had a lovely voice. I did offer her some singing lessons, but I think she might be quite busy.”

The Queen’s cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, also revealed that Her Majesty is a “fantastic dancer” and loves songs by artists including Vera Lynn and Gary Barlow.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2 last year, Lady Elizabeth said: “We did a lot of singing at Kensington Palace.

“Nobody thought it was odd after dinner if we put on a record and all sang Doing The Lambeth Walk, so music has always been part of her life.

“The Queen loves the theatre and musicals like Showboat, Oklahoma! and Annie Get Your Gun.

“The Queen is a fantastic dancer. She’s got great rhythm.”
