The Queen is hiring a new helicopter pilot for her family

The Queen is on the search for a new helicopter pilot after a job advertisement was posted on The Royal Family’s official website.

The successful applicant will be expected to fly Her Majesty and other members of The Royal Family as they conduct their official business.

A permanent full-time position based at RAF Odiham is on offer with an unspecified competitive salary.

The Queen’s Helicopter Flight (TQHF) is made up of a small team of pilots and ground support, “providing the highest standard of helicopter service to Members of the Royal Family on official engagements.”

The new pilot will be either Co-Pilot or Pilot in Command, operating a Sikorsky S76 C++ helicopter.

In addition to flying duties, the successful applicant will also undertake management tasks and other administrative duties.

The job advert reads: “As a natural collaborator, you have excellent communication skills and are confident liaising with a wide range of people.

“With high levels of attention to detail and time management skills, you are capable of planning accurate flight plans and are driven to operate consistently to the highest standard.

“Your initiative and problem-solving skills mean that you can think ahead and act proactively.

“Flexibility is essential as you will be required to undertake travel across the UK and overnight as necessary.”
