<![CDATA[The Queen's horse Estimate is looking to make history again by winning the Royal Ascot Gold Cup two years in a row.
Last year, the Queen became the first reigning monarch to own the winner of the prestigious race.
Speaking of Estimate, trainer Michael Stoute said “she’s made some progress in the last month. The Gold Cup’s a tough assignment this year, but I expect her to run very well”
There is some concern however, as Estimate has run only once since the win because of a muscle injury.
The young horse who also a won a race at Royal Ascot in 2012, trailed to the finish on Champions Day in October.
Stoute added “She’s not been straightforward. She’s had a muscle problem in her right hind [leg], and that’s why she hasn’t had a prep run.
“She’s made some progress in the last month. The Gold Cup’s a tough assignment this year, but I expect her to run very well.”
Estimate is currently the third favourite on the betting markets to take the £375,000 prize. The horses favourable over her are last year’s St Leger winner, Leading Light, and Brown Panther.
