Did The Queen have a pet panda?

The ITV documentary ‘Our Queen at 90’ aired over the weekend, and it gave viewers an insight into the Queen off duty and showed her at her most relaxed. But the two-hour programme appeared to be hijacked by the appearance of a panda chasing an Alsatian.

Inevitably, this led to many people asking whether Her Majesty once owned a pet panda?

The archive footage shows the Queen as a child, stood with other family members in a garden.

The clip then appeared to show a panda chasing the family pet Alsatian dog in the same garden with the young Queen watching on.

The Queen and her family didn’t seem too worried about the panda, or the fact it was chasing their pet dog.

Many viewers took to social media; intrigued as to what they were watching.

One Twitter user asked: “How can ITV show a dog and a panda playing in front of the Queen without an explanation?”

Another user questioned: “Was that a panda and an Alsatian playing in front of the Queen?”

Some viewers also spotted the cushion during footage shot from inside Balmoral Castle that read : “It’s good to be Queen”.

In the documentary, senior royals sat down with ITV to pay tribute to The Queen and sharing memories about her long reign as she approaches her milestone 90th birthday.

The Duchess of Cambridge called her very “supportive and caring” whereas Prince Harry hailed his grandmothers’ sense of duty as ‘quite remarkable’.

Prince William talked about the public reaction to the Queen, saying, “I’ve seen people literally faint in front of her. It’s quite a startling moment as to what to do when you faint in front of the Queen.”
