Princess Anne ‘avoiding meetings’ with royal aides over birthday disagreement

The Princess Royal has reportedly been ‘avoiding meetings’ with her aides over a disagreement about how to celebrate her 75th birthday.

It is believed that aides and courtiers are keen for the milestone event to be celebrated with official portraits and media interviews.

However, according to GB News, the King’s sister has refused every suggestion put forward, and has actively been avoiding meetings to discuss her birthday options.

One royal source told The Sunday Times that those close to the princess have been instructed “not to make a fuss.”

The source added: “She told us she would do things for birthdays that had ‘zeroes, but not for the fives.”

Princess Anne will celebrate her 75th birthday on August 15.

At her request, the event will be extremely low key.

The only public acknowledgement of the event is courtesy of The Royal Mint who have produced a a specially commissioned coin.

Away from the cameras, the Princess also hosting a reception at Buckingham Palace in June, attended by representatives from over 100 charities supported by the princess.

Addressing the attendees, her private secretary, Colonel John Boyd, said he understood there had been “a significant amount of interest” in his the milestone birthday; which she will celebrate on August 15.

He said: “As you are aware, the princess has given decades of time and support to more than 400 charities and patronages.

“It probably won’t come as a surprise, given HRH’s commitment to you all, that the way the princess wants to celebrate this milestone is to replicate what she’s done on previous significant birthdays and hold this charities forum… to once again understand how she can help you, at a time when the third sector is facing unprecedented challenges and transformations.”

Princess Anne affirmed this, saying: “You very kindly asked me to become patron of your organisations, so it’s an honour for me to have all of you here.”
