Prince Philip set to spend second weekend in hospital in what will be his longest ever stay

The Duke of Edinburgh is set to spend a second weekend in the Edward VII Hospital in Central London, with the 99-year-old unlikely to be discharged until next week at the earliest.

A Buckingham Palace source told the Daily Mirror: “The Duke of Edinburgh will continue to stay in hospital over the weekend and into next week as he continues to receive treatment for an infection.

“He has been in good spirits and is comfortable.”

Prince Philip was admitted to hospital on February 16 as a “precautionary measure” after be began feeling unwell.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the Prince was being treated for an infection.

This will be the Duke of Edinburgh’s longest ever stay in hospital.

He has previously spent 11-days as a patient back in 2013 when he underwent an operation on his abdomen.
