”Dear Aunt Lillibet”: King Felipe’s poignant message as he mourns ”uncle Philip”

The King of Spain has sent a deeply personal message to the Queen following the death of The Duke of Edinburgh.

In a telegram, Felipe VI expresses his sympathy on the passing of his ”dear Uncle Philip”. It is addressed to ”Dear Aunt Lillibet”.

The full message reads ”Dear Aunt Lillibet, we are deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of dear uncle Philip. In these sad moments, we would like to send you our most heartfelt condolences on behalf of the government and people of Spain, and all our sympathy and support. We will never forget the moments that we shared with him and the legacy of service and dedication to the Crown and the United Kingdom by your side. Our thoughts and prayers are with Your Majesty and the whole family.”

It is signed ”With all our love and affection, Felipe and Letizia.”

Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh died on April 9th 2021 at Windsor Castle.
