Buckingham Palace and Downing Street finalising arrangements for Prince Philip’s ‘no fuss’ funeral

Buckingham Palace and Downing Street are in talks this afternoon to decide on the fine details ahead the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

Although most plans will already be in place, the Royal Household and Number 10 will need to confirm important details, including what type of funeral the Duke will receive.

The Duke of Edinburgh always said that he did not want a ‘fuss’ when he dies, and would prefer a low key ceremony.

This is likely to be the case, with the funeral set to be orientated around Windsor Castle where The Queen is currently living.

It is possible that the Duke will receive a private funeral rather than a State or Ceremonial occasion.

Officials will be mindful of the ongoing public health emergency and will not want crowds of mourners to congregate.

Full funeral details will be announced in due course.

Prince Philip died at the age of 99 on Friday morning at Windsor Castle.

He was just a couple of months short of his 100th birthday.
