<
Over 100 Canadians will be in attendance at the reception and will
include guests from business, sport, entertainment, charity and the
media. The Canadian High Commissioner, His Excellency Gordon
Campbell, will also be present.
As reported by Royal Central last month, The Prince of Wales and
The Duchess of Cornwall will visit Canada from 18th – 21st May
2014. The trip will have the Royal couple met a wide range of
people from youngsters to veterans. The emphasis of the visit will
be celebrating Canadian achievement.
According to Clarence House some of the highlights will
include:
- The Prince and The Duchess taking tea with Canadian War brides and Second World War veterans in Halifax;
- Their Royal Highnesses touring a heritage quay and attending a celebration of Celtic culture in Pictou County;
- Their Royal Highnesses watching the Victoria Day Fireworks with local people in Charlottetown;
- The Prince walking a new trail in Bonshaw Park, and officially opening it;
- The Duchess visiting school children in Prince Edward Island who have written to Clarence House to request a Royal visit;
- Their Royal Highnesses celebrating the centenary of Winnie the Bear (the inspiration behind Winnie the Pooh);
- The Prince feeding Hudson, a polar bear, at the ‘International Polar Bear Conservation Centre in Winnipeg (as part of the bear’s positive reinforcement training);
- The Duchess visiting the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to mark its 75th anniversary, and touring the ballet’s facilities, including the costume department and the dance studios.
Charles and Camilla will also take part in events to honour the
centenary of World War One, and the 150th anniversary of the
Charlottetown Conference in Prince Edward Island that led to the
Confederation of Canada.
This will be Charles’s
17th visit to Canada and the third for Camilla. Two years the
royal couple travelled to New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan
on a four-day tour. The couple visited Canada in 2012 to mark the
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
