While her husband was at the zoo, the Duchess of Cornwall visited
the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, which is celebrating it’s 75th
anniversary. The ballet centre, which was founded in 1939, is the
only one in the country to hold the title ‘Royal’, which was
granted to it by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The Duchess met the
Ballet’s dance students and viewed the centre’s costume
workshop.

on, the Prince of Wales visited Place Bernadette Poirier, a charity
started by Sara Riel Inc. to help those with mental illnesses, and
Innovation Alley, a workshop supporting young entrepreneurs,
inventors and innovators. Charles also attended the launch of ‘The
Prince’s Canadian Responsible Business Network at Red River College
and met with the Canadian Development and Design Community and
representatives from The Prince’s Foundation for Building
Community. He also presented service medals to members of the
Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Whilst Charles was busy with this visit, Camilla carried out
another solo engagement where she visited Assiniboine Credit Union,
a programme started in 1943 to aid low-income families and local
organisations which try and help at a community level. While in
Winnipeg, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, as
Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and The Queen’s Own
Rifles of Canada respectively, will meet the members of their
regiments. The Prince was created Colonel-in-Chief in 1978, while
the Duchess received the title in 2010. Before Camilla, both
Princess Alexandra and The Queen’s grandmother, Queen Mary, were
the Colonel-in-Chief.
In the evening, Their Royal Highnesses will attend an investiture
for the Order of Manitoba at the Manitoba Legislative Building,
followed by an official farewell ceremony. Prince Charles will
address the present Canadians, after which the Prince of Wales
and Duchess of Cornwall will bid farewell to Canada before
departing for Britain.
