Buckingham Palace has revealed the names of the bridesmaids and page boys at Princess Eugenie’s upcoming wedding to Jack Brooksbank on Friday. One of the children who has been given the special job on the day is Maud Windsor – the grandchild of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Born on the 15th of August 2013 to Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marina is the first grandchild of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, and first cousin twice removed of Her Majesty The Queen and now is 49th in line to the British throne.

Maud is five-years-old and currently attends St Thomas’ Battersea – the same school as Prince George.

Maud has only ever made very few public appearances, with her parents Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor preferring to keep their daughter out of the spotlight.

Lord Frederick Windsor is the first-born and only son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.  He was born at St Mary’s Hospital in London on the 6th of April 1979.  As his father, Prince Michael, is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, Lord Frederick is a first cousin once removed of Her Majesty.  Lord Frederick and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh are first cousins twice removed as Lord Frederick’s paternal grandmother, Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, is the first cousin of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Lord Frederick was educated at Wetherby School, Sunningdale School, Eton College and Magdalen College, Oxford, where he gained a 2:1 in Classics.  He worked briefly as a fashion model for a Burberry campaign.  Lord Frederick also tried his hand as a music journalist for Tatler magazine and had planned to become a solicitor in entertainment law.  He began working as an analyst at the investment bank JPMorgan in London in 2006.

Maud’s mother, Sophie Winkleman, was born on the 5th of August 1980 in Primrose Hill in London.  Her parents are Barry Winkleman, a former publisher at HarperCollins and Cindy Black, an author of children’s books.  Sophie’s half-sister, Claudia Winkleman, is a well-known television presenter.

Sophie was educated at the City of London School for Girls and at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, where she read English Literature.  She joined the university’s dramatic society, Cambridge Footlights and she is also a member of the National Youth Theatre.  Sophie’s acting credits include Peep Show, Two and a Half Men and as the older Susan Pevensie in the Disney film The Chronicles of Narnia:  The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Lord Frederick and Sophie were married at Hampton Court Palace on the 12th of September 2009.  Upon her marriage, Sophie became entitled to be styled as Lady Frederick Windsor, but continues to use her maiden name in her professional career.
