The Prince of Wales has recruited model Gisele Bundchen as a new judge for his Earthshot Prize.

She becomes the first Brazilian to take part in the judging for the awards which hand out £1 million to five recipients every year to help support environmental projects.

Her involvement was announced as it was confirmed the Earthshot Prize is heading to Brazil. The presentation will take place in Rio de Janeiro this year, with Prince William heading there at the start of November.

Gisele Bundchen joins an all star list involved in Earthshot. Double Oscar winner, Cate Blanchett, is involved as is Sir David Attenborough.

William also has other royal support on the judging panel with Queen Rania of Jordan contributing.

As she was announced as part of the panel, Gisele Bundchen said ”every action matters big or small and together we can nurture change to protect the planet we call home. The Earthshot Prize shines a light on solutions that inspire hope and transformation, and I’m proud to represent Brazil in sharing these stories with the world.”

The panel is formally known as the Earthshot Prize Council and its role is to ”champion positive action for our planet”. It’s led by Prince William.

The Earthshot Prize described its newest face as ”a passionate and dedicated advocate for wellness, women and children, and the environment” and added that ”Gisele created the Agua Limpia project in her hometown in Brazil” while ”her philanthropy has earned her recognition from the United Nations.”

Following the presentation of this year’s Earthshot Prize, Prince William will travel to Belem in Brazil where he will represent King Charles III at the Heads of State summit held before COP30.
