Queen Camilla has announced the launch of The Queen’s Reading Room Medal.
Her Majesty hosted a reception at Clarence House this week to celebrate the fourth anniversary of The Queen’s Reading Room (originally The Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room). At the star-studded gathering, Queen Camilla shared that The Queen’s Reading Room has launched The Queen’s Reading Room Medal.
The medal “celebrates individuals who have championed reading, books and literature in their communities”. Nominations will open on 1 April; anyone can submit a nomination for someone they believe has made an impact on their community’s reading life.
The King was on hand to help celebrate the Reading Room’s massive success since it was first launched in 2021, as was the Duchess of Gloucester.

The Queen’s Reading Room was first launched in 2021 as an online book club with the goal of helping to foster community through reading when so many people were physically isolated with lockdowns.
The Reading Room now has multiple seasons a year with four books being read and discussed each season. There is also a podcast that features different authors, and a reading festival held annually at Hampton Court Palace.
