Confirmation that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to move out of Kensington Palace and relocate to Windsor

It has been confirmed that Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are relocating from Kensington Palace to Windsor.

In a press release, Kensington Palace say that the couple’s three children – George, Charlotte & Louis – will attend school in Berkshire from September.

The three children will attend Lambrook School, an independent preparatory school in Bracknell, just a few miles from Windsor.

The relocation of the Cambridge Family will mean they are much closer to The Queen who now lives at Windsor Castle for the majority of the year.

it is understood that the family have decided to move to Berkshire due to the freedom the three children will be able to enjoy away from Central London.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte had previously attended Thomas’s Battersea school in London.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “Their Royal Highnesses are hugely grateful to Thomas’s Battersea where George and Charlotte have had a happy start to their education since 2017 and 2019 respectively and are pleased to have found a school for all three of their children which shares a similar ethos and values to Thomas’s.”

Ben Thomas, Principal of their former school, said: “We would like to thank George, Charlotte and all of our leaving pupils for upholding the school’s values and for their many contributions to school life throughout their time at Thomas’s. We wish them every happiness and success at their next schools and beyond.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have lived in Apartment 1A of Kensington Palace for almost a decade. Formerly the home of Princess Margaret, the apartment needed extensive repairs before William & Catherine moved in. They lived at Nottingham Cottage while the repairs took place.

In October 2013, the Cambridges and infant Prince George moved in, making it their London base, although they spent the majority of their time at Anmer Hall near the Sandringham Estate until this past September, when Prince William retired from his air ambulance duties.

Apartment 1A is a four-storey, 20-bedroom home, said to be painted in shades of beige, cream, and earth tones.
