Princess Anne will be in Wrexham on November 11th to attend a charity race day at Bangor-on-Dee racecourse in her role as President of Animal Health Trust, a veterinary research charity. The Anne, Duchess of Westminster charity is hosting the event and proceeds from the event will go to the Animal Health Trust, of which Princess Anne has been president of for 20 years.
Princess Anne will visit Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse.
Dr Mark Vaudin, Chief Executive of AHT, spoke of the charity race day, “We are delighted to be the benefitting charity of the Anne Duchess of Westminster’s charity. The charity has supported a number of our key research programmes in recent years, and, as we receive no government funding, it is support like this that enables us to progress veterinary medicine and make such a difference for horses, dogs, and cats in the UK and across the world. With our President HRH The Princess Royal in attendance, the day will be even more special.”
This year’s race day will be the 10th that the Anne Duchess of Westminster’s charity has supported. A spokesperson for the charity commented, “We are very pleased that such an important and worthwhile charity as AHT has been nominated for this year. We are especially delighted that HRH The Princess Royal is able to join us for what is always an enjoyable day.”
Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Bangor-on-Dee, near Wrexham. The first race to take place at Bangor-on-Dee was in February 1859, and races have since taken place there on a regular basis, apart from during the First and Second World Wars.
Mark Vaudin concluded, “We’re very much looking forward to meeting people from the local area who our work benefits and, hopefully, raising lots of money to assist with our important veterinary research.”
The Animal Health Trust was formed in 1942 and is based in Suffolk and the surrounding area. In 1963, the AHT celebrated its 21st anniversary and was incorporated by a Royal Charter.
